UPDATE (WKOW) — The Madison Metropolitan School District tells 27 News a letter went home to parents after the alleged sexual assault at East High School. Here is a copy of the letter:
I am writing to inform you that we are currently working with Madison Police to investigate an alleged sexual assault that reportedly took place Wednesday after school on campus and involved East students. No adults were involved.
While I cannot offer further details I want you to know that we are fully supporting the victim and the victim’s family through this process and will be taking the necessary disciplinary actions with the other students involved once the investigation concludes.
There is no place in the Purgolder community for sexual violence. We will not tolerate it.
East is known for our strong community and our caring relationships, and I believe that this incident is isolated and does not reflect the love and respect we have for one another. I believe in the good in our community and that our Purgolder spirit will endure and thrive.
Thank you for your partnership,
