GoFundMe set up for injured Sun Prairie firefighter

SUN PRAIRIE (WKOW) — A GoFundMe page has been set up for one of the firefighters injured in the gas main explosion July 10 in Sun Prairie.

According to a news release from GoFundMe about the campaign, firefighter Ryan Welch was shutting off gas in the Barr House with Capt. Cory Barr when the building exploded. He was only 20 minutes into his shift.

Barr died in the blast.

Donate to Ryan Welch here:

“His face is burned, his jaw is broken in several places, he lost teeth, his hands are injured.  A building fell on him, but he was up walking (with help) the next day,” according to the page.

“We lost Cory. Ryan is still with us.”

People had donated nearly $3,000 in its first hour Thursday.

GoFundMe has created a centralized page for Sun Prairie victims HERE.
