Exact Sciences breaks ground on new building

MADISON (WKOW) — A biotechnology center is expanding its reach in Madison.

Exact Sciences broke ground Tuesday on the company’s new headquarters in University Research Park. Exact Sciences sells Cologuard, a non-invasive test for colon cancer.

The new five-story building will connect with the company’s existing research and development facility down the street, and provide 138,000 square feet of office space.

"The building isn’t just about a structure to house us, it’s about a structure that inspires us to do things that are seemingly impossible sometimes," said Exact Sciences CEO Kevin Conroy.

The project is expected to house around 500 employee. It is slated to be complete by 2020.
