Beloit police notified of sex offender release

BELOIT (WKOW) — The Wisconsin Department of Corrections has notified the Beloit Police Department that John C. Johnson, 32, who was released from prison on Oct. 2, 2018, is now living at 1216 Portland Ave. in Beloit.

This is a temporary living placement location rented by the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.

The corrections department notifies police when a sex offender is released who qualifies under the new Special Bulletin Notification law.

The Sex Offender Registration and Community Notification Law, took effect June 1 to enhance public safety and protection.

Johnson’s targeted victims were juvenile males and females. He was convicted of three counts of possession of child pornography in February 2015 in Rock County Circuit Court.

Johnson remains on supervision until Nov. 10, 2027, and is required to register with the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry. He also will be on lifetime GPS monitoring.

Conditions of supervision include:

  • No unsupervised contact with minors
  • No taverns/bars/liquor stores
  • No contact with the victim
  • Not to consume alcohol or drugs
  • Comply with standard sex offender rules
  • Cooperate with electronic monitoring
  • Face-to-face contact with law enforcement
  • Comply with all requirements and lifetime registration of the Wisconsin Sex Offender
