Haunted Hustle celebrates Halloween and encourages kids to get active

MIDDLETON WI (WKOW) — Halloween is still more than a week away but people in Middleton were already celebrating the holiday this weekend.

Saturday was the first day of the Dreambank Haunted Hustle.

The main event of the Haunted Hustle is multiple runs at varying distances. Saturday there was a kids race and a 5K.

There are no awards for fast times during those races, but there are awards for best costume.

“I think the costume element adds a little bit of a gateway to get kids into a race,” said organizer, Justin Pernitz. “There’s quarter mile, half mile and one mile distances. And it’s neat that you see the kids that started in the shorter distance now running the 5k, 10k and even the half marathon tomorrow.”

The half marathon and 10k will be on Sunday.

There was also a family experience featuring live entertainment, a bouncy village, food and kid’s games.

The Haunted Hustle benefits Tri 4 Schools. Tri 4 Schools is a non-profit in Dane County that aims to get kids active through swimming, biking, and running.

One hundred percent of every kids race registration goes directly to Tri 4 Schools.
