MADISON (WKOW) — Hundreds of people got together in Madison Monday night to mourn the victims of the shooting at a synagogue in Pittsburgh.
They gathered at Library Mall on the U-W Madison campus.
One of the organizers says this is an important part of the healing process.
“The idea of community and coming together is always really central in our religion and I think the fact that we’re able to do that here is going to be a really big and, hopefully, very helpful part of a healing process,” said Stephanie Blumenthal of the UW Hillel Foundation.
Organizers say the event was also important to show people in Madison there is a strong Jewish community in the city and that anti-Semitism is not O.K.
