Coan may get second career start on Saturday at Penn State

MADISON (WKOW) — Wisconsin football head coach Paul Chryst confirmed Monday morning that junior Quarterback Alex Hornibrook is in concussion protocol for the second time in three weeks as the Badgers will travel to No. 21 Penn State this Saturday.

Hornibrook was listed as questionable on the weekly injury report Monday morning. If he can’t play, sophomore quarterback Jack Coan would likely be in line to make his second career start this Saturday.

“I just try to prepare the same way that I do, so it’s not bad,” Coan told the media Monday morning. Coan has two games to spare on his redshirt status before it would expire after playing in four games this season. Coan said, “I just try to stay in the moment. I do whatever the coaches say to do so.”

Coan played the second half on Saturday going 5-for-7 passing with a touchdown pass in a 31-17 win over Rutgers.

“I’ve liked the way that Jack has prepared all year long really. If Alex can’t go then he will certainly be ready,” said Chryst.

Wisconsin will play Penn State on Saturday in University Park, Pennsylvania. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. The game can be seen on WKOW-TV.
