BROOKFIELD (WKOW — A baby in Brookfield just couldn’t wait.
Her father had to deliver her in a hotel parking lot.
Jason Brunk was driving his wife Mayda to the hospital just before 11 p.m. Monday. While he was on the phone with 911, a dispatcher told him to pull over somewhere and the dispatcher walked him through the delivery.
“That’s when she started screaming I could feel it coming. I kind of went into minimal panic mode. The gentleman who was on the 911 actually kept me calm and leading me through it,” said Jason.
“He really kept it together, I’m actually really proud of him,” Mayda said.
After the delivery, an ambulance took mom, dad and Layla to the hospital in West Allis.
Jason says he accidentally hung up on the 911 dispatcher, but passed along a big thank you.
“I appreciate that, we don’t get thanks a lot so just hearing that, that’s awesome and I’m glad I could be a part of special process even though it wasn’t the most ideal situation I’m glad it all worked out in the end,” said Alex Graber, the dispatcher.
Mayda and baby Layla are doing well. Layla is 6.8 pounds and 20 inches long.
