UPDATE: Police suspect two Madison carjackings connected

UPDATE — Police think a carjacking Thursday afternoon on Todd Drive may be connected to a similar theft Wednesday on Schroeder Road.

In Wednesday carjacking, two men stole a car after the driver and his 3-year-old daughter were allowed to get out of the vehicle.

Then on Thursday, a 36-year-old woman was inside Great Beginnings Arbor Hills daycare center on Todd Drive picking up a child.

Three of her family members — a 15-year-old boy, a 9-year-old boy, and an 8-year-old girl – remained in the Ford Fusion.

Masked robbers flung open the front doors, pointing a gun at the older boy while telling him to get the younger children out. He complied and kept everyone safe, according to police.

The stolen car was recovered by the MPD a short time later in the 7900 block of Tree Lane in the same area that the vehicle from the Wednesday carjacking was recovered.
