UPDATE (WKOW) — The Wisconsin State Patrol says a crash on the interstate Wednesday could have been much worse, but there were only minor injuries.
A preliminary investigation shows a vehicle traveling eastbound on I-90 crossed over the median and into the westbound lanes. The state patrol says it’s still investigating why the driver crossed into oncoming traffic.
That vehicle hit a semi and then another vehicle in the westbound lanes. The semi caught fire. The crash caused major traffic issues Wednesday afternoon.
The incident is still under investigation.
UPDATE (WKOW) — All lanes are new reopen in Lake Delton after the semi fire.
SAUK COUNTY (WKOW) — An semi fire has closed a portion of I-90 westbound near Lake Delton. It happened Wednesday around 3:35 p.m. near mile maker 101.
According to the Wisconsin State Patrol, there are injuries. However, it’s unknown how many people are hurt or the severity of their injuries. It’s also not known how many vehicles were involved. The fire broke out in the right ditch along the highway.
All lanes of I-90 near the incident are closed. Dispatch expects lanes to be cleared soon.
