MADISON (WKOW) — The city of Madison has been working all Monday to stay ahead of a wintry mix that could make travel dangerous during New Year’s Eve.
Officials with the Streets Division tell 27 News all 38 of their plows are currently deployed. They will lay down salt throughout the night.
If you plan on driving to New Year’s Eve festivities, officials say you should slow down and stay vigilant.
The Streets Division says plow drivers have canceled their own plans to keep the roads clear.
“We’re fortunate,” said Madison Streets Superintendent Charlie Romines. “We’ve got a number of dedicated employees who are putting aside their plans tonight with friends and family and are going to be out keeping our roads as safe as possible.”
Plow drivers working New Year’s Eve will be relieved from the duties at midnight. Another set of drivers will monitor the roads until noon on New Year’s Day.
