Human remains found in Walworth County burn pit, suspect arrested

FRANKLIN (WKOW) — A Franklin resident faces murder charges in relation to an investigation at a Walworth County farm.

The Walworth County Sheriff’s Office says the suspect is a 43-year-old Franklin resident and business owner. The suspect has not been identified.

The Milwaukee Police Department began an arson investigation that led to a report of two missing persons. Police say evidence led them to a farmhouse and land which the suspect had leased on County Road J in the town of East Troy.

While authorities were executing a search warrant at the farmhouse, they found a burn pit with human remains in it. Officials are trying to identify the remains.

Charges against the suspect are pending in multiple jurisdictions, but the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office says the suspect will likely face 1st Degree Intentional Homicide charges. That person has been taken into custody and police say there is no danger to the public.

The investigation is still ongoing.
