DATCP to start inspecting produce farms
MADISON (WKOW) — To provide more protection to consumers, produce farms in Wisconsin will now be inspected more. Through an agreement made under the FDA’s Food Safety and Modernization Act, DATCP will begin inspecting produce farms for compliance with federal food safety regulations this year.
The farms will be under three umbrellas. Inspections of large producer farms that sell more than $500,000 worth of goods will be inspected this year. Smaller farms will be inspected in 2020.
