After winter storm, coldest temps of the season move in with frigid wind chills

MADISON (WKOW) – After the biggest snow storm of the season, we experience the coldest conditions yet.

Most areas picked up 4-8 inches, with lesser amounts for our far northern areas.

As this system departs, an Arctic based high pressure system moves in, dropping temps to their lowest levels since last winter.

Temps tonight plummet to around 0° with wind chills dipping to -10° to -15° as a breeze continues out of the NNW at 5-15 mph.

Expect lots of sunshine for Sunday. But it will still be the coldest day of the season with highs struggling to the double digits by the afternoon and wind chills staying at or below 0°.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day starts off bitterly cold with actual temps around -5° to -10° and increasing clouds through the day. Highs will get to the teens.
