MADISON (WKOW) — A robber got more than he bargained for when he tried to rob a Madison Citgo station Thursday night.
A masked man with a gun entered the Citgo at 3401 Milwaukee Street just before 7 p.m and demanded money, Madison police said in a statement.
The clerk, a woman in her 50s, said no.
The clerk could back up her refusal because she had “several decades of martial arts training,” police said.
The gunman grabbed money from from the register anyway. That’s when, according to police, “the clerk kicked into action and put her martial arts skills to work.”
She got behind the gunman, “grabbed him across his forehead and chest and dragged him out of the Citgo,” police said.
The robber was still able to get away with some of the money.
Police are looking for a black man in his late teens or early 20s. He was thin, between five foot eight and five foot ten and wore a black hoodie under a brown Carhartt jacket, black ski mask, dark pants, and black boots.
