Educators gather to learn about ‘Black Lives Matter at School Week’

MADISON (WKOW) — Madison teachers will take part in a nationwide movement in the coming weeks.

‘National Black Lives Matter at School Week’ is February 4-8. Local educators are preparing by learning how to teach the subject matter to their students.

Edgewood College hosted the event Sunday.

The Dean of the School of Education says its part of the college’s social justice mission.

“Edgewood has been committed to our Dominican tradition in compassion, truth, justice, partnership and community,” Dean Tim Sleckar said. “This is what this whole book encompasses.”

Edgewood College is partnering with the Madison Metropolitan School District, the UW-Madison School of Education and MTI among others.
