MADISON (WKOW) – The wintry mix is tapering off. Strong winds and rapidly falling temperatures will take it’s place.
Freezing rain, sleet, and snow have left area roads snow or ice covered and slippery over most of the area. Treatments from road crews helped roads improve during the day, but as temperatures rapidly fall there will be flash freeze this evening. Any slushiness will turn to ice. Untreated surfaces will stay especially icy through tonight and into tomorrow.
Strong winds will gust to 40 mph this evening and will stay gusty into tomorrow. Wind chills will rapidly drop through the night to as cold as -25 degrees. A Wind Chill Advisory starts later tonight and continues tomorrow morning
