UPDATE: Police identify suspect in Windsor stabbing

UPDATE (WKOW) — Police identified the suspect in a stabbing Saturday night as 26-year-old Evans K. Chelanga of Windsor.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, a Dane County Sergeant responded to the call and encountered a chaotic scene with numerous people.

They say they found one victim bleeding from a stab wound to his abdomen.

After investigating, the Sheriff’s Office said that a physical altercation between Chelanga and the victim led to the stabbing.

Chelanga was taken into custody at the scene and booked into the Dane County Jail on tentative charges of 1st degree recklessly causing injury, and disorderly conduct.

Authorities say the victim was taken to UW Hospital where he underwent surgery for serious, potentially life-threatening injuries.


WINDSOR (WKOW) — Authorities are investigating a stabbing in Windsor Saturday night.

Dane County Communications tells 27 News the call came in around 7:30 p.m. on February 9. Emergency crews and Dane County sheriff’s deputies were called to respond to the 4000 block of Golf Drive.

Sheriff’s officials say one person went to the hospital and describe the stabbing as a domestic incident.

A suspect has been detained and no one in the community is at risk at this time, according to the sheriff’s office.
