Police: Walkie-talkies help police arrest three for burglary

MADISON (WKOW) — Madison police arrested three people in connection to a construction site burglary.

Jeana M. Corrado, 40, from Stoughton, was arrested Wednesday for burglary, while Katelyn S. Kratochwill, 30, also of Stoughton and Cory M. Tornai, 37, from Madison were arrested for being party to the crime of burglary, according to a report from the Madison Police Department.

Police responded to a burglar alarm at a construction site around 10:30 p.m., police said. The project had a problem with copper thieves.

Officers searched the site and found a woman hiding near some copper wire. The woman, police said, claimed to be homeless and just trying to sleep there that night.

Police searched the woman and found a walkie-talkie. She claimed she “didn’t know where that came from,” according to police.

Where are you,” one officer whispered into the walkie-talkie, the report said.

“I’m in the same spot,” a male voice responded.

Officers found a white van nearby with two people, a man and woman, inside. They too claimed to be homeless, according to police.

The man consented to a search of the van. “And, wouldn’t you know it, a second walkie-talkie was found,” the report said.

Police said the investigation of the incident led to the arrest of all three.
