Wisconsin Poor People’s Campaign calls for “moral revival”

MADISON (WKOW) — A group of advocates for people who are underprivileged in Wisconsin gathered at the State Capitol Monday to deliver a message to Gov. Tony Evers.

The Wisconsin Poor People’s Campaign put together their 2019 agenda during their Legislative Day. It addresses poverty, racism, and what they say is the need to pass fair voting laws in Wisconsin. The demands were part of a letter delivered to Gov. Evers’ office.

“Our national and our state has a big wealth gap, worse than we’ve ever had in our history,” said Economics lecturer Aaron Matteson. ” That’s not only socially unsustainable, it’s morally reprehensible.”

The Wisconsin Poor People’s Campaign is one of over 35 state campaigns.
