UPDATE: Driver seriously hurt after semi truck crash & fire on I-39/90 in Janesville

UPDATE (WKOW) — The Wisconsin State Patrol says the driver of a semi was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after his semi crashed and caught fire along the interstate in Janesville.

State troopers say they got a call about a semi that caught fire and crashed into the ditch near Janesville around 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

Troopers say the driver of the semi tried to jump from the truck just before the crash.

The State Patrol says he is a 27-year-old man from Davenport, but his name has not been released.

The semi was removed by 8 p.m. Thursday.


JANESVILLE (WKOW) — Authorities have closed the right northbound lane of Interstate 39/90 in Janesville while crews respond to a burning semi-truck. The closure caused long delays during evening rush hour Thursday.

A semi-truck hauling a Dollar General trailer came to a rest on the right median near Milwaukee Street. Flames poured from the engine and cab before they were extinguished. Authorities have not said if anyone is injured.
