GREEN BAY, Wis. (WKOW) – One loss over the course of an entire season is the mark of a pretty good season.
Going undefeated until the very last game, the WIAA Girls Division 5 State Basketball Championship game, makes that first loss a tough loss to handle.
A 14-2 run by the Black Hawk Warriors midway through the second half brought that first loss to the Clayton Bears at the Resch Center Saturday morning.
Black Hawk defeated Clayton 51-36 to win the WIAA 2019 Girls State Division 5 championship.
The Warriors dimmed the Bears chances in part with back to back threes by Natalie Leuzinger and Bailey Butler within 40 seconds at the 10 minute mark. Leuzinger hit another three about two minutes later.
Kailey Ketz hit a three pointer to end the drought, but by then it was too big of a lead, 12 points to come back.
Ketz had 13 for the Bears with Alison Leslie adding 11.
Natalie Leuzinger led the Warriors with 23 including three three pointers. Bailey Butler was the only other member of the team in double figures. She had 19.
Black Hawk finishes their season undefeated at 28-0.
