As the weather continues to get warmer, probably nobody is more excited for spring than the players of Forward Madison FC – many of whom moved to the area in the dead of winter.
The Flamingoes, starting off their inaugual season in the USL league one, are currently gaining team chemistry in exhibition games. They’ll have a friendly this weekend in Milwaukee against the Marquette soccer team.
“Our guys now are getting the itch that our season is right around the corner,” said head coach Daryl Shore. “So it’s going to be exciting. I think the people of Madison are in for a real treat because our group is excited. And I think they’re going to see a really high-quality, entertaining soccer.”
“We’re ready,” said defender Shaun Russell. “We keep talking about [the season starting]. Especially the first home game. But we have to take it one game at a time. And hopefully this preseason game against Marquette this weekend is going to be the final showdown, taking us into the season.”
The official season opener is on April 6th The team will host its first home game at Breese Stevens Field on April 27th.
