COOKSVILLE (WKOW) — A kayaker was found unresponsive and taken to the hospital after tipping over during a trip on Badfish Creek.
The Rock County Sheriff’s Office says a 66-year-old Cambridge man and a 70-year-old Burlington man were kayaking on the river Wednesday evening. Officers say the 66-year-old tipped over multiple times and at one point, he could not fully get back into his kayak, so part of his body remained in the water.
The Sheriff’s Office says the man’s core temperature dropped to dangerous levels.
Once emergency responders arrived, they found the kayaker unresponsive and performed life-saving measures.
He was taken to Mercy Hospital and placed in critical care.
