Janesville Police: Two men arrested after Subway armed robbery

JANESVILLE (WKOW) — Janesville police responded to an armed robbery at a Subway restaurant Thursday night, according to a police report.

The robbery happened around 10:30 p.m. at the store at 1929 Center Avenue.

Police say a man dressed in all black entered the store, displayed a firearm and demanded money before running away with an unknown amount.

An officer responding to the call observed a vehicle driving north at a high rate of speed on S Jackson Street.

Authorities say the vehicle made several turns in an attempt to get away, but was located in a driveway in the 1000 block of Jerome Avenue.

A passenger in the vehicle, identified as 17-year-old Tyler Kjell, matched the description of the robbery suspect.

Police also located a backpack containing a realistic looking BB gun and the cash from the robbery inside the vehicle.

Kjell was arrested for Armed Robbery and the driver of the vehicle, 18-year-old Kortae Valadez, was arrested for Party To Armed Robbery, according to the incident report.

A third male passenger of the vehicle was released without charges pending further investigation.

Police say Kjell was also arrested for felony bail jumping, as he was out on bond for robbing the Dollar General on W Court Street last September.
