MONONA (WKOW) — More than a hundred people are helping support students in need, with a day of bowling.
The 6th annual Bowl-A-Thon put on by Madison Teachers, Inc. raises money for the Food 4 Thought Initiative. It runs food pantries at four Madison schools.
A special program called Thea’s Table also helps feed students when they’re not at school.
“We feed whole families who are homeless and have children in the Madison Metropolitan School District. So we feed the families on the weekend when the children are not fed at school,” said Mary Lou Taylor, director of Thea’s Table.
The Food 4 Thought Initiative is hoping to establish a fifth food pantry at Hawthorne Elementary School with the money raised at the fundraiser on Sunday.
The Bowl-A-Thon was held at Village Lanes in Monona.
