MADISON (WKOW) — Libraries in Dane County and Madison are partnering up to create a way to spread the love of reading on the road.
County and Madison community leaders gathered at Kennedy Heights Community Center to roll out the Dream Bus. It’s a new mobile library that makes weekly visits to five under-served neighborhoods in the Madison area.
The bus offers a walk-on vehicle with collections, as well as exterior programming spaces.
“The traditional model of library service has been having bricks and mortar establishment and have people come to you,” said Tracy Herold, Director of Dane County Library Service. “I think more and more in our current society and the way we operate it’s really an opportunity to meet people where they are.”
The neighborhoods that the Dream Bus will visit Park Edge, Allied Drive, Kennedy Heights and Reindahl Park.
