Madison Ballet’s newest production “Emerging Voices” opens Friday night

MADISON (WKOW) — Madison Ballet presents “Emerging Voices”, which features a collection of short, original, and edgy works, promises to be a production for everyone to enjoy.

On Friday, Artistic Director, Sara Stewart Schumann, and ballet dancer, Malachi Squires, stopped by Wake Up Wisconsin to give viewers a preview of their new “sexy” production.

“The costumes are very simple, with the men bare-chested and the women with bare legs in black leotards,” said Stewart Schumann.

She adds that this is ballet for people who “think” they don’t like ballet.

“The goal in putting these works on the same program is to give the audience the treat of finding some unexpected pleasure in watching dance, and discovering that they didn’t know it could be so much fun,” she said.

Emerging Voices opens at the Bartell Theatre at 113 East Mifflin Street on Friday, April 12, at 8 p.m. There are two other performances on Saturday, April 13, at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Ticket prices range between $25 and $30.
