Competitor inspires others at Midwest Horse Fair’s Mustang Challenge

MADISON (WKOW) — The Midwest Horse Fair is April 12-14, and one competitor in the Mustang Challenge is inspiring others.

When she was younger, Brooke Schuessler had her leg amputated following a lawnmower accident. She now uses a prosthetic.

Brooke says she’s never let it stop her from riding horses or inspiring others.

“There was another competitor here who said she had scoliosis,” Brooke said. “She said she was glad she wasn’t doing this alone in having a disability and doing this. So I really want to inspire other people to know that they could do this too.”

Competitors have 90 days to train an untrained horse before competing in the Mustang Challenge.

Brooke’s horse also faces challenges – its ears were injured due to frostbite.
