Rain return Wednesday, isolated stronger storms possible in the afternoon and evening

MADISON (WKOW) – Our entire area is under marginal risk for severe weather Wednesday. This is the lowest level of threat classification.

Showers will develop early Wednesday between 4-9 am from SW to NE. Expect scattered showers as you head out the door, so keep the umbrella close.

As the warm front moves north, the shower threat goes with it. Expect on and off rain for areas north of Madison through the afternoon. Meanwhile, in Madison and areas south, you should get a break in the rain around midday through early afternoon.

Temps will vary from the upper 40s to mid 50s farther north, to the low and mid 60s farther south.

Later in the day, the main cold front sweeps through, triggering more showers and storms. A couple of these storms could be on the stronger side with small hail and 30-50 mph wind gusts being the main threat.

Stay weather aware on Wednesday and have a way to receive warning information, in case storms strengthen in the afternoon and evening.
