Madison City Council honors Wisconsin women’s hockey team

MADISON (WKOW) — The Wisconsin women’s hockey team got a standing ovation from the Madison City Council Tuesday night.

The council honored the team for winning the national title in March.

Senior captain Annie Pankowski said the team is grateful to have the city stand behind a women’s program.

“It’s really exciting for us to have a platform and be given a place where we can play the sport we love and inspire the next generation to do the same,” Pankowski said.

The Badgers beat Minnesota 2-0 to win Wisconsin’s fifth NCAA Championship.
