United Way celebrates annual Community Volunteer Awards

MADISON (WKOW) — People who donate their time to make their community a better place were recognized on Tuesday for their service.

The United Way held the annual Community Volunteer Awards at the Madison Concourse Hotel. 11 people were recognized for making a difference in Dane County.

“This event is amazing. It’s an opportunity for us to celebrate the people in Dane County that does such amazing work every single day,” said Nolan Brown, event host. “These are people that don’t expect to get any accolades but do it out of the goodness and kindness of their heart.”

27 News Anchors George Smith and Amber Noggle emceed the event.

The United Way donated thousands of dollars to charities on behalf of the winners. Some young volunteers were also given scholarships.
