DAVENPORT, IA (WKOW) — Newly-released video shows the moment a Mississippi River levee broke in Davenport, Iowa.
The video comes from Roam, a restaurant on East River Drive, right along the river. A surveillance camera from Roam shows water beginning to pour through the temporary barrier.
Seconds later, workers from the restaurant ran out of the building as the water began rushing into the parking lot.
The levee broke Tuesday, April 30. The Mississippi River crested days later at a record level, topping the previous record set in 1993.
