BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WKOW) — Melanie Cross made a triumphant return to the lineup after missing 19 games due to injury. The senior had three hits and three RBI to lead Wisconsin past Iowa 7-4 in the first round of the Big Ten Softball Tournament.
Cross finished 3-for-3. She was a home run shy of the cycle and reached base in all four plate appearances. Kayla Konwent had two hits. Maddie Schwartz picked up the win after tossing four innings in relief. She allowed one run.
The Badgers advance to the quarterfinals. They will face Ohio State on Friday at 10 a.m. CT.
