Clouds ruled today, but brighter days are ahead

MADISON (WKOW) — The low pressure system that brought us two days of rainy weather started to pull away today, but cloud cover lingered through the day and will stay with us tonight before moving out tomorrow.

A brisk northwest wind brought in cooler air that resulted in falling temperatures. The mercury started out near 60 degrees this morning and then dropped into the 40s by late this afternoon. It will be a rather chilly and brisk evening.

Full forecast: next work week looks warmer

High pressure moves in on Friday allowing mostly sunny skies to return, though temps stay below average, only peaking in the upper 50s.

We’ll get to the low to mid 60s on Saturday under mostly to partly sunny skies, but clouds and a few passing showers will cool us off to the upper 50s for Mother’s Day. It certainly doesn’t look like a washout, so don’t cancel any outdoor plans yet.
