MILWAUKEE (WKOW) — A Milwaukee mother is grateful for a quick-acting bus driver.
The driver rescued her six-year-old son as he was running through traffic.
Milwaukee County transit driver Cecilia Nation-Gardner stopped the boy and helped him onto her bus.
The boy’s mother, Cassandra Garrett, calls Nation-Gardner a guardian angel.
“Every time I watch it I cry. I just cry because if it wasn’t for her he wouldn’t be here,” Garrett said.
Garrett says her son’s school told her there was a substitute teacher that day and he wandered off chasing a ball during recess.
Garrett says her son has special needs and having a substitute may have confused him and thrown off his routine.
