MADISON (WKOW) — A Madison elementary school received national recognition for inclusion Friday night.
Shorewood Hills Elementary received the National Seal of Excellence for Welcoming Schools.
This is the third Madison school to receive the recognition.
Welcoming Schools is a national program used across the district to create more respectful and supportive schools for all students, staff and families.
“The work is all about creating an inclusive school where all kids, regardless of race, beliefs, LGBTQ+ identities, gender expression — every child, every staff, every family member matters at our school,” Principal Anu Ebbe said.
To earn the seal, the school must submit evidence of creating an inclusive school environment.
