Sun Prairie baseball advances to state championship

GRAND CHUTE (WKOW) — The Sun Prairie baseball team is headed back to the WIAA state championship game after besting Burlington 6-1 in the Division 1 semifinals.

The Cardinals took control with a 3-run first inning. Josh Caron led the offensive attack with three hits and three RBI. Benett Halblieb drove in a pair of runs. Matt DePrey also drove in a run.

Robbie Knorr threw all seven innings for Sun Prairie. He only allowed one unearned run on seven hits.

Sun Prairie improves to 24-7 with the win. The Cardinals will be looking to claim a ninth state title in school history on Thursday night at 6 p.m. in the championship game.
