Report: Khris Middleton declining $13M player option to become unrestricted free agent

(WKOW) — ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that Bucks Forward Khris Middleton is expected to decline his $13M player option to become an unrestricted free agent.

Wojnarowski adds that Middleton and the Bucks are working together on a new long term deal that would keep Middleton in Milwaukee for 5 more seasons. Under the current CBA, the Bucks can offer Khris Middleton a 5-year max contract. All other teams can only offer 4 years.

Middleton averaged 18.9 PPG in 2018-2019 per Basketball Reference. Middleton earned his first all-star selection last season. He’s played with the Bucks for six seasons. He was a part of a trade that brought Brandon Knight to the Bucks and saw Brandon Jennings dealt to the Detroit Pistons. At the time he was considered to be a throw in to make the trade work but has become a key cog to the Milwaukee Bucks future.
