MADISON (WKOW) — On Friday, United Way of Dane County mobilized nearly 500 volunteers as part of its Seasons of Caring Campaign.
Friday was the organization’s Day of Action. The event was planned to coincide with the Summer Solstice.
‘It’s held on the Summer Solstice because it’s the longest day of the year,” said RISE Facility Operations Manager Chris Boehm. “It’s kind of a celebration of working hard and contributing to the community’s needs in the summertime.”
RISE is one of the many nonprofits that received help from volunteers on the Day of Action. Some volunteer opportunities in the community included trail clearing at the Human Society, pantry assistance at The River Food Pantry and home chores for older adults at Heartland Hospice.
WKOW is a proud sponsor of the United Way of Dane County.
