Former Sun Prairie YMCA worker charged with child sexual assault

SUN PRAIRIE (WKOW) — A former YMCA employee is charged with sexually assaulting a 5-year-old he was taking care of.

A criminal complaint filed Tuesday states 19-year-old Delmonte Lee had sexual contact with the young girl at the Sun prairie YMCA in June. He had been employed there since March of 2018, but has since been terminated.

Lee appeared in Dane County Circuit Court on Tuesday. According to the criminal complaint, Lee admitted to police he assaulted the girl while he was working in the “Kid Zone” of the daycare center. He told police “at the time, it was just her” when Lee and the girl began “tickling and play fighting.”

The criminal complaint describes what happened next, but the details are too graphic and 27 News has chosen not to describe them.

President/CEO of the YMCA of Dane County, Mark Westover, said in a statement they were “dismayed and appalled by these allegations.”

The staff member in question had a thorough, national background check performed before being hired, and no issues were identified for this individual,” said Westover. “We are cooperating fully with the authorities as they continue their investigation.”

Lee was given a signature bond of $1,500 and court records show he has no criminal history. His next court appearance will be July 17th.
