Keeping track of your kids in crowds

(WKOW) — We’re in the middle of fair and festival season, and inevitably, families will get separated in big crowds.

WQOW-TV reported a four-year-old boy just got lost Wednesday at the Northern Wisconsin State Fair.  With Art Fair on the Square this weekend and the Dane County Fair next weekend, you don’t want to take any chances.

Child care workers told WQOW-TV, one of the easiest ways to keep track of your children is to put them in brightly colored clothes, so you can find them, and they can find their siblings.

Also plan a meeting place ahead of time.  “Really important that you kind of designate an area to meet, whether it’s the area you start out at, or a special area that like if you’ve been to the place before that your kids really like,” said Cassandra Stoeklen, the owner of The Learning Tree Child Care Center.  “That way you can have a place where if your kids do lose you, then they can have a place where ‘Okay, I’m going to go meet them there.'”

Stoeklen said worst case scenario, teach your kids to go to a police officer, security guard or someone in a badge or uniform.
