What do basic white tees, a trusted pair of jeans, and your go-to ballet flats have in common? They’re staple items for your wardrobe! Hannah Rupp, blogger at The Outfit Repeater, joined us in the studio to share a few items that can serve as the foundation to your stock of clothes.
Rupp said when it comes to choosing staple items, look for pieces that can be worn more than once.
“If you can’t wear it with three different things in your closet, you probably don’t need it,” she said.
Rupp analyzed over 100 of her own outfits and found dark wash jeans, a mid-wash denim jacket, a plain white tee and red ballet flats were the things that made the most appearances. When it comes to basics, she recommends staying away from colors that may not match a ton of other items.
“I would stick with neutrals. I think blue is always a really good choice, black and white; you can’t go wrong.”
