Your dream day doesn’t have to break the bank! Betsy Pearson, owner of Piece of Cake Consulting, joined us in the studio to give advice on planning a budget for your wedding.
According to The Knot’s 2018 ‘Real Wedding Study,’ the average wedding in the United States cost around $33,931. Pearson said she always recommends her clients start with a budget before they dive in to the planning process.
“You really have to set a tone for what you’re willing to spend on each and every thing and prioritize what’s important to you to help you personalize your wedding,” she said.
Pearson said after the budget is set, the first thing to start looking at is the venue, but to make sure you still have enough left to spend on the other components of the wedding.
“Figure out your venue first, [because] that’s going to really set the tone for the rest of the items that you can afford,” she said. “There’s a lot of things you need to spend money on. If you spend a fourth of your budget on a photographer, you’re not going to have a lot for the remaining items that are left. It gets a little bit tricky towards the end, depending on who you book first and that’s usually how people end up going over budget.”
