EAU CLAIRE (WKOW) — There’s going to be a major change at one dormitory at UW-Eau Claire.
They’re getting rid of traditional gender rules when pairing roommates and a new rainbow living community will debut.
It’ll be on the 7th floor of Karlgaard Towers.
The floor will house students together regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity or sex.
“We knew that the need was there so we just designated a specific residence hall and a specific floor and from that point we waited to see what the interest was and it turns out the interest is pretty exceptional,” said Christopher Jorgenson, Director of the Gender and Sexuality Resource Center.
School officials say the floor filled up quickly for the fall and the university is looking to expand the rainbow living community in the future.
