WEST ALLIS (WKOW) — The Wisconsin State Fair kicks off this week in West Allis.
That means neighbors of the fair grounds are busy getting their yards ready for some company.
For more than 30 years, some neighbors have allowed people to park in their front yards.
When the parking lots at the fair grounds fill up, drivers rely on neighbors to help them out.
Kristi Chuckel with the Wisconsin State Fair says, “We do our best to get people in and out as quickly as possible, but on those Saturdays and Sundays, sometimes you will find the lots full. So, then we encourage you to go out in the neighborhoods and find some other parking.”
Public transportation and ride sharing is also an option.
New for this year, fair organizers have a ride sharing pick up and drop off location outside Spin City on the west side of the main gate.
