Take the Hunger Action Month Challenge to earn prizes and help feed people in need

MADISON (WKOW) — A month-long fitness challenge is allowing people to team up with family or friends to compete and win prizes while helping raise thousands of meals for people in need in southern Wisconsin.

On Thursday, Seth Braddock, CEO of Kilter Rewards, and Kris Tazelaar with Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin joined the Wake Up Wisconsin team to talk about the Hunger Action Month Challenge.

Braddock says the overall objective of this challenge is to help Second Harvest Food Bank deliver 36,000 meals to people in need in southern Wisconsin in September, which is Hunger Action Month.

“It’s not about just donating your money. It’s about helping others by helping yourselves and your family and friends stay active and healthy,” said Braddock. “That is the vision of Kilter Rewards, to help build better, healthier communities by mobilizing the people that live in them and motivating them to lead healthier, more active lifestyles.”

Braddock says the challenge works by gathering a group of family members or friends to complete daily fitness activities. The challenge, which is done through the Kilter Rewards mobile app, scores each team member with points.

For example, if someone runs or walks two miles, bikes for five miles, or swims for 500 meters, they will earn 100 points for each task.

The team with the most points can wins prizes from Field Level Brewers Tickets to tickets to see Alessia Cara at The Sylvee.

The challenge runs from September 1 to September 30. It costs $20 per team member to sign up.
