Police arrest teens wanted in connection with recent burglaries, car thefts

MADISON (WKOW) — Three Madison teens were arrested Sunday in connection to recent Dane County car thefts and burglaries.

Two of the teens were arrested by west district officers following a foot chase Sunday near Elver Park. The third teen was arrested in a nearby apartment after a K-9 tracked one of the suspects there, according to a Madison police incident report.

Police attempted to arrest two of the teens shortly before 1 p.m. Aug. 11, and a 14-year-old was taken into custody quickly. His 17-year-old accomplice, later identified by police as Isiah M. Ali, jumped a fence and took off toward Schroeder Road.

Archie, a Madison police K-9, tracked Ali to an apartment building, and a third suspect, a 16-year-old from Madison, was also found at the address and arrested.

Police had developed probable cause to arrest the trio after they were identified on surveillance cameras stealing from East Towne Mall stores on July 31.

At the time of the thefts, they were traveling in a 2019 Subaru which had been stolen from a Hawks Landing home during a July 25 burglary.

The victims in that case, a husband and wife, had been watching a movie and discovered the car missing from the garage when they went out to walk their dogs.

Several area police departments have cases where one or more of the teens are suspects.

The 17-year-old has an extensive adult court criminal record with six open cases with charges to include: burglary, disorderly conduct, theft, operating a motor vehicle without owner’s consent, armed robbery, resisting and bail jumping.

All three teens have been banned from East Towne and West Towne Mall for the next year.
