MADISON (WKOW) — As the season inches closer, Garrett Rand is finding it hard to contain his excitement.
“It feels great. I mean it’s been too long, too long since I played some football. I can’t wait to play.”
The junior was expected to start for the Badgers last season at defensive end before an Achilles injury ended his season before it began. The 6’2″, 279-pounder is now healthy and ready to make his home at defensive end after spending his first two seasons mostly at nose tackle.
“I’m curious what I can do. It’s going to be a learning process for both of us. I played nose guard. This is going to be my first year playing end. I’m a little nervous, but I’m ready to play football.”
Rand and the Badgers will open the season on August 30th at South Florida.
