Janesville man arrested for striking house and two vehicles

JANESVILLE (WKOW) — A Janesville man was arrested Sunday after hitting a house and two vehicles.

According to a Facebook post from the City of Beloit Police Department, police found Thomas D. Weidner, 26 of Janesville, at around 4 a.m. Sunday on 1700 block of St. Lawrence Avenue.

Weidner’s vehicle was in the fence/patio area of the house he had just hit.

He then reversed and nearly struck a patrol car before taking off onto St. Lawrence Avenue.

Officers tried to stop the vehicle and gave chase for two blocks before they stopped chasing.

Less than a minute later, officers spotted Weidner driving erratically and swerving all over the road.

Officials say the Town of Beloit Police Department set up stop sticks near Newark Road and McKinley Road.

After he hit the stop sticks, Weidner stopped briefly before continuing to flee onto Afton Road going as fast as 100 mph.

The Rock County Sheriff’s Office set up a second set of stop sticks he was coming into Janesville, which was enough to finally stop his car.

Weidner tried to flee on foot but was tasered and arrested in the 500 block of South Washington Street.

He is facing charges of 2nd OWI, hit and run to property, hit and run to an unattended vehicle, operating while suspended, and felony fleeing.
